Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Gap Cores

Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Gap Cores

Nanocrystalline Amorphous gap cores

High-performance cores engineered for precision inductance and high current loads

TI-Electronic’s amorphous and nanocrystalline gap cores are designed to deliver stable magnetic performance in power applications where DC bias, temperature rise, and current handling are critical factors. These cores feature a customizable air gap, enabling tailored inductance values (AL) and optimized circuit behavior under load.

The cores are available in both amorphous and nanocrystalline materials, giving engineers the flexibility to choose based on performance and cost targets.

✨ Key Advantages

  • High saturation flux density: Enables large DC bias operation without magnetic saturation

  • Gap structure: Maintains magnetic stability under heavy load

  • Low core loss: Minimizes temperature rise and improves energy efficiency

  • High permeability: Delivers effective inductance with fewer turns

  • Customizable gaps: Tailored AL values to meet exact application needs

🌋 Typical Applications

  • Power Factor Correction (PFC chokes)

  • Output filter inductors in power converters

  • Solar inverter input/output inductors

  • Hall effect current sensors

Gap cores are particularly well suited for DC-biased inductors, where conventional ferrites would saturate early. With customizable gaps, these cores are a top choice for high-efficiency magnetics.

🔧 Technical Highlights

  • Material: Amorphous and nanocrystalline alloy

  • Custom AL values: Adjusted via precise gap tuning

  • Typical frequency: 10–100 kHz (depending on application)

  • Operating temperature: Up to 120 °C continuous

  • Core finishing: Machined and epoxy coated upon request

Note: AL values are reference measurements at 1kHz, 0.25V. Actual AL depends on gap. Tolerances as agreed in QA terms.
